City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE August 28, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Alder William “Mac” McGilvray at 6:00 p.m. in Conference Room D110. Roll Call: Alder William “Mac” McGilvray and Alder Elizabeth Doyle were present. Alder Jack Linder was absent and excused. Also present: City Administrator Jeff Mikorski, Finance Director Brian Lamers, and Building Inspector Ken Robers. Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of August 14, 2017 Finance Committee minutes: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to approve the August 14, 2017 Finance Committee minutes with no amendments. Motion carried 2-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to approve the payment of bills totaling $191,854.30. Motion carried 2-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Approval of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP letter of engagement to provide auditing services for fiscal year 2017 totaling $47,750. Finance Director Brian Lamers discussed the extension of the auditing contract for an additional year at the same contracted cost as the previous year. Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to extend the contract for audit services for 2017 audit to Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. Motion carried 2-0. Discussion and Possible Action re: 2018 Operating Budget Request Presentation for Building Inspections, Verona Economic Development Commission (VEDC), and Broadband Telecommunication Regulatory Board (BTRB). Building Inspector Ken Robers presented the building permit activity for 2016, 2017, and projections of 2018. Proposed Building Inspection budget includes a reduction of 5.31% from 2017 budget. Brian Lamers and Jeff Mikorski presented the 2018 operational budgets for the VEDC and BTRB. No action taken. Adjournment: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to adjourn the Finance Committee Meeting at 6:40 p.m. Motion carried 2-0.
