City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE MAY 23, 2022 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Chad Kemp at 6:33 p.m. Roll Call: Chairperson Chad Kemp, Alder Mara Helmke and Alder Christine Posey were present. Also present: City Administrator Adam Sayre and Finance Director Brian Lamers Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of May 9, 2022, Finance Committee minutes: Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Helmke to approve the May 9, 2022, Finance Committee minutes with no changes noted. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval to write-off delinquent personal property taxes deemed uncollectible: Lamers stated there are three of them, Minerals & More was out of business and should have never been taxes, Nuage Salon II sold out to Nuage Salon I, it was never taken off the assessment roll and Milio’s Sandwiches the owner sold and from trying to collect payment the owner had passed away and with the business itself still being open chargebacks to the other entities is not allowed per state statutes. Moton was made by Kemp, seconded by Helmke to approve writing off $1,534.67 of personal property taxes. Motion passed 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Motion was made by Kemp, seconded by Helmke to approve the payment of bills totaling $622,317.35. Motion carried 3-0. Adjournment: Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Helmke to adjourn the Finance Committee Meeting at 6:38 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
