City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE JANUARY 13, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Mara Helmke at 6:30 p.m. Roll Call: Chairperson Mara Helmke and Alder Patrick Lytle were present, Alder Christine Posey arrived at 6:33 p.m. Also present: Mayor Luke Diaz, City Administrator Jamie Aulik, Finance Director Brian Lamers, Alder Beth Tucker Long and Communications Manager Mara Trusty Chairperson Mara Helmke opened the floor for Public Comment: Alder Beth Tucker Long spoke regarding the large conference room upgrade and the amount of the upgrade. She stated she was concerned about the system being too big for the conference room and the knowledge needed to run the system. She felt that we could get a system for approximately $300 that would work just fine for that size of room. She reiterated that she was concerned about the price. Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of December 9, 2024, Finance Committee minutes: Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve the December 9, 2024, Finance Committee minutes with no changes noted. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the Large Conference Room Upgrade-Approving Quote for Technology Upgrade and Authorizing the use of Cable Funds: Communications Manager Mara Trusty spoke about the virtual meeting experience with this system and went over what the system would include and how it would work. Aulik explained that this would follow the hybrid meeting policy and for staff usage. Trusty stated they looked at size and could go smaller, but with this system attending virtually will get the most from this experience. Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to recommend to City Council the Approval of the Quote for Technology Upgrade and Authorizing the use of Cable funds. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the Purchase of the Ice Skates for Century School Park with the Expense Offset by Ice Skate Rental Income: Lamers stated that the amount for buying Ice Skates is at a cost of $5,555.00, with the rental income to offset the expenditures. Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve the purchase of Ice Skates for Century School Park. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the City Investment Report-November 2024: Lamers stated nothing significant noted. www.ci.verona.wi.us Discussion and Possible Action regarding the Revenue and Expenditure Summary Report- November 2024: Lamers stated we are still getting a lot of invoices in for 2024 so it is hard to determine where we will be at in 2024 for expenditures but noted nothing too far over budget. As far as two revenue sources that are well over budget are interest revenue by approximately $1.3 million and Building Inspection revenue of about $300,000. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Lamers did point out there was one invoice in the payment register for AkitaBox for $14,376, which is software for Building Maintenance that was never budgeted. Of the $14,376, $10,000 if it is for annual support. Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve the payment of bills totaling $15,626,708.09. Motion carried 3-0. Adjournment: Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to adjourn the Finance Committee Meeting at 6:59 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
