City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE JANUARY 27, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Mara Helmke at 6:30 p.m. Roll Call: Chairperson Mara Helmke, Alder Christine Posey and Alder Patrick Lytle were present. Also present: City Administrator Jamie Aulik, Finance Director Brian Lamers and Alder Beth Tucker Long Public Comment: Alder Tucker Long stated she was in favor of the purchase of the Skate Sharpener. She stated the skates came in not sharpened and it would cost about $1,800 to bring to the Ice Rink to have done and would still have to purchase one next year. Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of January 13, 2025 Finance Committee minutes: Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve the January 13, 2025 Finance Committee minutes with no changes noted. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Approving the Purchase of Skate Sharpener for a Cost of $3,600, with Discussion on Funding and Procedures for Unbudgeted Items: Discussion took place on the purchase and who would be trained on the sharpening of the skates. Lamers suggested the funds come out of the $10,000 that is budgeted for Room Tax funds for the purchase. He stated this is usually for items like flower planters, Christmas lights etc. Aulik explained the budgeting and the turnover of staffing and the need to get better at planning. Discussion also took place regarding the $14,000 purchase of the software for Building Maintenance from last meeting and how the purchase happened. Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve the purchase of the skate sharpener. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the City Investment Report-December 2024: Lamers stated that investments are up due to tax collections for December. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve the payment of bills totaling $2,422,207.71. Motion carried 3-0. Adjournment: Motion was made by Helmke, seconded by Posey to adjourn the Finance Committee Meeting at 6:47 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
