CITY OF VERONA MINUTES POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MAY 16, 2013 VERONA CITY HALL 1. The meeting was called to order by Delora Newton at 6:02 p.m. 2 Roll Call: Delora Newton, Paul Curtis, Richard Jensen, Joleen Semmann. Absent (excused): Steve Heinzen. Also present: Jon Hochkammer, Mayor; Bill Burns, City Administrator; Joe Giver, Verona Fire District Chief. 3. Approval of the Minutes of the May 8, 2013 Police and Fire Commission Meeting: Motion by Jensen, seconded by Semmann, to approve the minutes of May 8, 2013 Police and Fire Commission meeting. Motion carried 4-0. 4. Position Description for the City Fire Chief Mr. Burns presented a draft position description for a City Fire Chief. Commission Members suggested clarifications regarding participation in outside associations, the reporting structure for the position, and the educational and experience requirements. The Commission directed Mr. Burns to prepare a revised version for consideration by the Commission at a future meeting. 5. Hiring of a City Fire Chief: Motion by Semmann, seconded by Curtis, to convene in closed session as authorized by Section 19.85 (1)(c) of Wisconsin Statutes – Personnel Matters. Voting Aye: Curtis, Jensen, Newton, Semmann. Voting No: none. 6. Adjournment: Motion by Curtis, seconded by Jensen, to adjourn the Police and Fire Commission Meeting at 7:14 p.m. Motion carried 4-0.
