CITY OF VERONA MINUTES PUBLIC SAFETY AD HOC COMMITTEE TASK FORCE MEETING MAY 14, 2013 VERONA CITY HALL 1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hochkammer at 6:31 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Chief Bernie Coughlin, Chief Joe Giver, Mike Goetz, Jon Hochkammer, Scott Manley, Chief Brian Myrland, Delora Newton, Heather Reekie, Diane Smith, John Wickstrom. Absent (excused): Mac McGilvray, Joleen Semmann. Others Present: Dale Yurs, Alderperson; Bill Burns, City Administrator. 3. Approval of the Minutes of April 2, 2013 Committee Meeting Motion by Wickstrom, seconded by Reekie, to approve the minutes of the April 2, 2013 Committee Meeting. Motion carried 8-0. 4. Tour of the Fitch-Rona EMS Facility Chief Myrland conducted a tour of the Fitch-Rona EMS facility in Verona. This site is leased by the City and Town of Verona. It is staffed with two to three paramedics 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fitch-Rona administrative offices are located at Fitchburg Station #2. 5. Review of Project Goals and Guiding Principles Mr. Burns reviewed the draft project goals and tentative project timeline. The timeline has been revised to potentially allow for a spring 2014 construction start. It was noted that this is an aggressive timeline. Motion by Manley, seconded by Smith, to adopt the project goals and guiding principles. Motion carried 10-0. 6. Facility Tour Reports by Staff Mr. Burns and Chief Giver presented information and photos from the following fire and EMS facilities that were visited by staff: Cross Plains, Middleton, Stoughton, Lisbon, Lake Country, Waukesha #1, and Wauwatosa #1. 7. Discussion of Next Steps and Facility Tours by Committee Members Committee members indicated that they would like staff to schedule tours of the Marshfield Fire Rescue facility and some other location stations prior to the next committee meeting. Staff were also directed to prepare a draft RFP for architectural services based on an example from the City of Fitchburg. The committee plans to meet again on June 11 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. 8.
