MINUTES
POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 18, 2013

1. The meeting was called to order by Delora Newton at 6:04 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Delora Newton, Richard Jensen, Joleen Semmann, Paul Curtis. Absent
(excused): Steve Heinzen. Also Present: Joe Giver, Fire Chief; Steve Zach, Attorney,
Boardman & Clark.
3. Approval of Minutes of the July 11, 2013 and August 14, 2013 Police and Fire
Commission Meeting: Motion by Semmann, seconded by Jensen to approve the minutes
of the July 11, 2013 and August 14, 2013 meetings. Motion carried 4-0.
4. Moving into closed session pursuant to Sec. 19.85(1)(c), Wis. Stats., for the purpose of
reviewing applications for fire department positions, determining which applicants to
interview and to develop interview questions and pursuant to sec. 19.85(1)(g), Stats. to
confer with legal counsel with respect to matters which could lead to litigation with
respect to the PFC hiring process.”: Motion by Newton, second by Semmann, to go into
closed session pursuant to Sec. 19.85 (1)(c) Wis. Stats at 6:08 p.m. Voting Aye:
Newton, Jensen, Semmann, Curtis. Voting No: None.
5. The Commission may return to open session to take action on any previous item on the
agenda. The Commission did not return to open session.
6. Adjournment: Motion by Newton, second by Semmann, to adjourn at 7:25 p.m. Motion
carried 4-0.
