CITY OF VERONA 111 LINCOLN STREET VERONA, WI 53593-1520 POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 2020, AT 5:00 P.M. VIRTUAL MEETING MINUTES (Approved) 1. Call to Order by Delora Newton at 5:02 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Delora Newton, Paul Curtis, Louis Eifert Cole Leystra, Mylinda Heil (joined during closed session). Also Present: City Administrator, Adam Sayre, Police Chief, Bernie Coughlin, Human Resources Coordinator, Mitch Weckerly 3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Leystra, seconded by Curtis to approve the minutes of the March 16, 2020 meeting of the Verona Police and Fire Commission. Motion Carried: 4-0. 4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: Fire Chief recruitment The Police and Fire Commission may convene in a closed session. for the purpose of discussing candidates for the position of Fire Chief as authorized by Section 19.85 (1)(c) of the Wisconsin Statutes to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee subject to the jurisdiction or authority of the City of Verona. The Police and Fire Commission may reconvene in open session to discuss and take action on the subject matter discussed in the closed session. Motion Newton, seconded by Leystra, to convene in a closed session for the purpose of discussing candidates for the position of Fire Chief as authorized by Section 19.85 (1)(c) of the Wisconsin Statutes to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee subject to the jurisdiction or authority of the City of Verona. The Police and Fire Commission may reconvene in open session to discuss and take action on the subject matter discussed in the closed session. On roll call: Commissioner Newton, Aye, Commissioner Curtis, Aye, Commissioner Eifert, Aye, and Commissioner Leystra, Aye. Motion carried 4-0. The Police and Fire Commission convened in closed session at 5:07 PM. Commissioner Heil joined during closed session. City Administrator Adam Sayre, Police Chief Bernie Coughlin and Human Resources Coordinator were invited to remain for the closed session. CLOSED SESSION Motion by Newton, seconded by Curtis to reconvene in OPEN SESSION at 5:51 p.m. Motion carried 5-0. 5. Adjournment: MOVED by Heil, seconded by Curtis to adjourn at 5:55 p.m. Motion Carried: 5-0.
