CITY OF VERONA POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2023, AT 5:00 PM VERONA POLICE DEPARTMENT 111 LINCOLN STREET MINUTES 1. Call to Order by Louis Eifert at 5:01 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Louis Eifert, Cole Leystra, and Melissa Helgesen. Mylinda Heil arrived at 5:05 p.m. Also present: Verona Fire Chief Dan Machotka and Verona Police Chief David Dresser 3. Approval of Minutes: Moved by Leystra, seconded by Helgesen to approve the April 5, 2023, minutes of the Verona Police and Fire Commission. Motion Carried: 3-0. 4. Moved by Eifert, seconded by Leystra to convene into closed session pursuant to Sec. 19.85(1) (c) and (e), WI State Statue, for the following purposes: a. To conduct interviews of candidates for the position of Police Officer for the Verona Police Department b. To conduct interviews of candidates for the position of Fire Lieutenant for the Verona Fire Department Motion Carried: 4-0. Fire Chief Dan Machotka and Police Chief David Dresser were invited to remain in closed session. Time: 5:06 p.m. 5. Moved by Leystra, seconded by Heil to return to open session for discussion and possible action regarding the closed session. Motion Carried: 4-0. Time: 8:28 p.m. Moved by Leystra, seconded by Helgesen to certify candidates A101 and A103 for further consideration for the position of Police Officer. Motion carried: 4-0 Moved by Leystra, seconded by Eifert to certify candidates including person IDs 525231 and 525232 for further consideration for the position of Fire Lieutenant.
