CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE JUNE 25, 2012 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Scott Manley at 5:46 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Scott Manley, and Evan Touchett. Jeremy Charles was absent and excused. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Bill Burns, City Administrator; and Kami Lynch, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2012 meeting. Motion carried 2/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Parade/Run/Walk Permit from the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County for a charity bike ride Saturday, July 21, 2012. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to approve the application for the Charity Bike Ride. Motion carried 2/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Parade/Run/Walk Permit from Pedal for the House Charity Bike Ride Saturday, August 25, 2012. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to approve the application for the Charity Bike Ride. Motion carried 2/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for an Amplifying Device Permit from Stephen Pheil at 268 Military Ridge Drive for Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to approve the Amplifying Device Permit. Motion carried 2/0. 7. Discussion and possible action regarding Liquor License Renewal Applications for the period beginning July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013 for establishments currently holding a 2011 license. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to recommend approval of the licenses contingent upon completion of the inspection by the building inspector at Gray’s Tied House and contingent upon Avanti’s meeting six conditions including; completion of the application, completion of the background check of the agent, approval granted from the building inspector, approval granted from the fire inspector, outstanding debt owed to the City of Verona is paid, and outstanding debt to Philips Distributing Corp. is paid. Motion Carried 2/0. 8. Discussion and possible action regarding Cigarette/Tobacco License Renewal Applications for the period beginning July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013 for establishments currently holding 2011 licenses. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to recommend approval of the licenses to the Common Council. Motion carried 2/0. 9. Discussion and possible action regarding Amusement Device Renewal Applications for the period beginning July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013 for establishments currently holding 2011 licenses. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to recommend approval of the Amusement Devices 2012-6-25 PS&W  contingent upon completion of the building inspection at Gray’s Tied House to verify the number of devices.
