CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE SEPTEMBER 10, 2012 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Scott Manley at 5:50 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Jeremy Charles, Scott Manley, and Evan Touchett. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Bill Burns, City Administrator; and Kami Lynch, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Manley to approve the minutes of the August 27, 2012 meeting. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Temporary Class B Fermented Malt Beverage license for the 5th Annual Chili Cook-off on Sunday, September 16, 2012 received from the Verona Optimists. Motion by Charles, seconded by Touchett to recommend approval of the Temporary Class B license to the Common Council with a revised (enclosed) site location that is acceptable to the Police Chief. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Parade/Run/Walk Permit for the Verona Area High School Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 5, 2012. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Charles to approve the VAHS Homecoming parade. Motion carried 3/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Parade/Run/Walk permit for the Verona CROP Walk from Verona area churches to be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012. Motion by Charles, seconded by Touchett to approve the Verona CROP walk event. Motion carried 3/0. 7. Discussion and possible action regarding amending section 7-7-1 of the City of Verona Code of Ordinances (Street Use Permits). The committee discussed language and methods to clarify section 7-7-1 of the Verona Code of Ordinances to encompass all related permits and events involving street use. No action was taken. 8.
