CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE JULY 8, 2013 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Manley at 5:35 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Michael Bare, Scott Manley and Dale Yurs. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin; Police Chief, Alderperson District 1; Elizabeth Doyle, and Kami Lynch, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Manley to approve the minutes from the June 10, 2013. Motion carried 2/0 with Ald. Bare abstaining. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to approve the June 27, 2013 meeting minutes. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event Permit for the ‘Mama Goose Memorial Run/Walk’ to be held on Saturday August 10, 2013 from Matthew Giesfeldt. Chief Coughlin provided information on the Run/Walk event explaining that participants will share the road with vehicular traffic by using the parking lanes of the roadways. Volunteers will be on site to assist with the event. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Bare to approve the Special Event Permit for the ‘Mama Goose Memorial Run/Walk’ on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event Permit for a neighborhood picnic on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from Charlie Huckelberry. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to approve the application for a neighborhood picnic with the contingency that the applicant secures signatures from at least 75% of the households along the portion of the street to be closed on Saturday, August 10, 2013 for the event. Motion carried 3/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding the creation of a pig ordinance. No discussion on the ordinance took place and no action was taken. 7. Adjournment.
