MINUTES
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Dale Yurs at 6:00 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Members Present: Michael Bare and Dale Yurs. Scott Manley was
absent and excused. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Brian
Simons, Library Director; and Kami Lynch, City Clerk.
3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to approve the
minutes from the September 9, 2013 meeting. Motion carried 2/0.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Temporary
Class B Beer & Wine license for a Trivia Contest on Saturday, October 5, 2013
from the Friends of the Verona Public Library. This item was tabled at the
previous meeting as the Committee wanted to hear a response from the City’s
insurance company on the event. The City’s insurance company explained
that this event at the Library would be covered and did not foresee any major
issues with the event. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to recommend
approval of the Temporary Class B Beer & Wine license to the Common
Council. Motion carried 2/0.
5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event
Permit for a Neighborhood Party from Joshua Flesner, 402 S Franklin Street.
The applicant and Chief Coughlin provided information regarding the event.
Mr. Flesner obtained 100% of the signatures of the directly affected individuals
authorizing the street closure. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Bare to
recommend approval of the Special Event for the Neighborhood Party to the
Common Council. Motion carried 2/0.
6. Discussion and possible action regarding Ordinance 13‐832 amending Section
13 of Chapter 1 of Title 10 of the City of Verona Code of Ordinances; Motor
Vehicles and Traffic, Require Stops. Chief Coughlin explained that the
proposed ordinance allows signage for required stops to be placed in the
Meister Addition to Westridge recent development. Motion by Bare,
seconded by Yurs to recommend that the Common Council approve Ordinance
13‐832. Motion carried 2/0.
7. Adjournment. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to adjourn the meeting at
6:23 p.m. Motion carried 2/0.
