CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE DECEMBER 9, 2013 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Dale Yurs at 6:00 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Michael Bare and Dale Yurs. Chairperson Manley was absent and excused. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Elizabeth Doyle, Alderperson District 1; and Kami Scofield, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to approve the minutes from the November 25, 2013 meeting. Motion carried 2/0. 4. Discussion regarding the intersection of North Shuman Street & West Harriet Street. Chief Coughlin explained that recent complaints have been received by a few alders regarding the above intersection. A recent accident occurred at the intersection and some residents believe that four-way stops at this intersection and a neighboring intersection would make the intersection less accident prone. The Police Department conducted traffic monitoring at the location in conjunction with additional enforcement. Another accident occurred at that location on November 26th. The members discussed the factors relating to incidents occurring at the intersection. No action was taken on the item 5. Adjournment.
