MINUTES
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Yurs at 5:31
p.m.
2. Roll Call: Members Present: Heather Reekie, Evan Touchett (late‐ 6:16) and
Dale Yurs. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; and Kami Scofield,
City Clerk.
3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Reekie to approve the
minutes from the April 14, 2014 meeting. Motion carried 2/0.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event
Permit a Triterium Triathlon on June 28, 2014 from Race Day Events, LLC.
This item was taken last with no objection. Sgt. Christensen presented this
item to the Committee. The event is the same as prior years. Two officers will
be on site during the event. There have been discussions with the applicant to
notify nearby businesses of the event and informing the business owners of
the shared street use during the event. Bruce street will be open for access on
Locust street but will be closed at Paoli street. Discussions on notification
procedures for affected businesses/residents occurred. Motion by Reekie,
seconded by Touchett to recommend that the Common Council approve the
Special Event. Motion carried 3/0.
5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event
Permit for ‘Verona Fest’ on August 1 & 2, 2014 from Mike O’Brien, Ice Inc.
This item was taken before Item 4. with no objection. This event will be the
same as it has been in the past, it is the 5th annual event. One officer will be
on site each day. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to approve the Special
Event Permit for ‘Verona Fest’. Motion carried 2/0.
6. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Temporary
Class B Beer license Verona Fest. This is the alcohol license that goes with the
Verona Fest event and there are no changes as noted above. Motion by
Reekie, seconded by Yurs to recommend that the Common Council apprve the
Temporary Class B license. Motion carried 2/0.
7. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event
Permit for the ‘Bike for Boys and Girls Club’ charity bicycle ride on Saturday,
July 19, 2014 from Janine Stephens, Boys and Girls Club of Dane County.
Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to approve the Special Event Permit for
the charity bicycle ride. Motion carried 2/0.
8. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event
Permit for a neighborhood party at 432 Dunhill Drive on Friday, July 4, 2014
from Dryden Geronimi. The applicant would like the special event permit
would to allow for an amplifying device permit to play music from 3 p.m. to 11
p.m. at the event. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to approve the Special
Event Permit for a neighborhood party from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.. Motion carried
2/0.

9. Discussion and possible action regarding Cigarette/Tobacco license renewals
for the 2014‐2015 license period. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to
recommend that the Council approve the Cigarette/Tobacco licenses as listed.
Motion carried 2/0.
10. Discussion and possible action regarding Liquor License Renewals for the
2014‐2015 license period. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Reekie to recommend
that the Common Council approve the Liquor License Renewals as listed
excluding Avanti’s and the Heights noting that those establishments
(highlighted in yellow on the list) are not eligible for approval at this time.
Motion carried 2/0.
11. Adjournment. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to adjourn the
meeting at 6:26 p.m. Motion carried 3/0.
