CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE JULY 28, 2014 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Yurs at 5:31 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Heather Reekie and Dale Yurs. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; and Kami Scofield, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to approve the minutes from the June 9, 2014 meeting. Motion carried 2/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event Permit for the Mama Goose Memorial Run/Walk on August 9, 2014 from Matt Giesfeldt. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Reekie to approve the Special Event. Motion carried 2/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Liquor License Premise Amendment for a Rib Cook‐off on August 23, 2014 from James Latsch at the 5th Quarter. There will be a fence around the perimeter of the event connecting the event to the building. Alcohol will be served in the bar area and patrons will have the ability to bring beverages outside but no serving will occur outdoors. The premise amendment is for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. including set up and take down. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to recommend that the Common Council approve the liquor license premise amendment for the 5th Quarter. Motion carried 2/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding Ordinance No. 14‐848 Amending Section 13 of Chapter 1 of Title 10 of the City of Verona Code of Ordinances, Motor Vehicles & Traffic, Require Stops. This Ordinance adds stop signs in the Meister subdivision while removing some existing stop signs to improve traffic flow. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to recommend that the Common Council approve Ordinance No. 14‐848. Motion carried 2/0. 7. Discussion regarding private streets. The Committee discussed the challenges relating to private streets. This item was discussion only, no action was taken on this item. 8. Adjournment.
