CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE OCTOBER 13, 2014 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Yurs at 6:02 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Heather Reekie, Evan Touchett and Dale Yurs. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Brad Stiner, Alderperson District 3; and Kami Scofield, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to approve the minutes from the September 22, 2014 meeting. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding Chief’s recommended Denial of an Operator License for Shannon Schrank. Chief Coughlin provided the reasons for denial including: failure to disclose information relating to convictions on the application, violations that substantially relate to the serving of alcohol, and the applicant has felony convictions. Ms. Schrank did not appear at the hearing. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to recommend that the Common Council uphold the Chief’s decision to deny the operator license. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding Resolution R-14-045 Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with Dane County for the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance of Warning Sirens. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to recommend approval of Resolution R-14-045 to the Common Council. Motion carried 3/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding Resolution R-14-046 Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement for the Operation of an Impaired Driving Task Force. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Touchett to recommend that the Common Council approve Resolution R-14-046. Motion carried 3/0. 7. Adjournment.
