MINUTES
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Yurs at 6:01
p.m.
2. Roll Call: Members Present: Heather Reekie, Evan Touchett and Dale Yurs.
Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Bill Burns, City Administrator;
and Kami Scofield, City Clerk.
3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Touchett to approve
the minutes from the March 23, 2015 meeting. Motion carried 3/0.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding a Temporary Class B Beer license for
the ‘Hometown Brewdown’ on Saturday June 20th from Mike O’Brien of Ice
Inc. This is a new event to Verona and Chief Coughlin and the applicant, Mike
O’Brien gave information on the event. With the purchase of a ticket for the
event, guests receive a 5 oz sampling glass in which 4 oz samples may be
obtained from about 22 different breweries. They are expecting about 1000‐
1500 people and the event will have single fencing in a complete loop with one
point of entry. It will occur from 12‐5p.m. and 2 officers per 1000 attendants
will be on site. Ald. Touchett suggested that wristbands be given to
participants to ensure that tasting glasses aren’t passed around. Motion by
Touchett, seconded by Reekie to recommend that the Common Council
approve the Temporary Class B License for the ‘Hometown Brewdown’.
Motion carried 3/0.
5. Discussion and possible action regarding a Special Event Permit for the
‘Verona Music Festival’ July 24‐25th from Karl Curtis of the Verona Area
Chamber of Commerce.
Karl Curtis explained that the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra will headline the
event on Saturday evening. This is a free event featuring musical
performances and will run 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday evening and noon to 10
p.m. on Saturday.
Motion by Reekie, seconded by Touchett to recommend that the Council
approve the ‘Verona Music Festival’ event. Motion Carried 3/0.
6. Discussion and possible action regarding a Temporary Class B Beer and Wine
License for the ‘Verona Musical Festival’ July 24‐25th from Karl Curtis of the
Verona Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Curtis explained that the Chamber will be responsible for beverage sales
and beer will be sold in open cans and wine in plastic cups. They are not
anticipating an extensive amount of alcohol sold as this is a family oriented
event. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Touchett to recommend approval of
the Temporary Class B Beer and Wine License for the Verona Music Festival
event. Motion Carried 3/0.
7. Discussion regarding reducing speed limit on southern portion of CTH M.
Chief Coughlin stated that due to the city growing in this area a pedestrian
crossing will be added and the only way to safely facilitate this is to reduce the
speed limit to at minimum 35 mph. The committee directs staff to draft an

ordinance reducing the speed limit to 35 mph and to look into the electric
vehicle ordinance.
8. Adjournment. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to adjourn the
meeting at 6:44 p.m. Motion carried 3/0.
