Discussion and possible action regarding a Special Event Application for the UW Carbone Cancer Center’s ‘Pedaling for Pancreas’ Bike Ride to occur on Saturday May 9th from James Listug of the UW Carbone Cancer Center. James Listug was present to provide information on the charity bike ride event stating that there are no changes from last year and as this is a ride and not a race they will be sharing the road and obeying traffic laws. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Yurs to approve the Special Event Permit for the ‘Pedaling for Pancreas’ Bike Ride on Saturday May 9th. Motion carried 2/0. 5. Discussion regarding the West Chapel Royal Drive Traffic Study. Chief Coughlin stated that the traffic report confirmed what staff had presented at the Council meeting related to the traffic counts in the area. Ald. Yurs asked Chief Coughlin if as a result of the traffic study he had any concerns with the Scenic Ridge Apartment proposal. Chief stated that he has no concerns. Tyler Tkatchuk from AECOM who drafted the study presented the findings of the traffic study to the committee summarizing that there will be increased traffic in the area due to the apartment development, but West Chapel Royal Drive is designed for the increased traffic and does not pose any other issues within the area. As a result of the study Mr. Tkatchuk recommends the painting of crosswalks at the Acker Lane and West Chapel Royal Drive intersection. Mr. Sayre mentioned that at the Public Works Committee where they also reviewed this study the Committee directed the painting of crosswalks at this intersection. Ald. Touchett noted that the Public Works Committee brought up adding stop signs at the intersection or in the subdivision to deal with traffic concerns. Chief Coughlin stated that he does not feel it is necessary to add stop signs as the traffic study indicates that additional stop signs are not justified in this area but as issues may arise in the future, stop signs can be added if necessary. 6. Adjournment. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Touchett to adjourn the meeting at 6:38 p.m. Motion carried 3/0. Kami Scofield, City Clerk 2015-3-23 PS&W
