CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2015 at 5:30 P.M. VERONA CITY CENTER MINUTES 1. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by Chair, Dale Yurs at 5:30 p.m. 2. Roll Call. Heather Reekie, Evan Touchett and Dale Yurs. 3. Approval of the minutes of the September 28, 2015 meeting of the Public Safety and Welfare Committee. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to approve the minutes. Motion Carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Class “B” Beer and “Class C” Wine license for Jordandal Farmstead Foods located at 600 West Verona Avenue from Carrie Johnson, Agent. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to recommend that the Common Council approve the Class ‘B’ Beer and “Class C” Wine license for Jordandal Farmstead Foods. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding Ordinance No. 15-865 Amending Section 10-1- 13 of the Code of Ordinances, Motor Vehicles & Traffic, Required Stops. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to recommend that the Common Council approve Ordinance No. 15-865. Motion carried 3/0. 6. Discussion and possible referral for action regarding Ordinance No. 15-866 Amending Section 14-1-10(a) (48a) and Section 14-1-70(m) of the Code of Ordinances, Subdivision Regulations, Private Streets. Ald. Yurs mentioned that he would like to see the addition of private streets to be designated as fire lanes in the Ordinance addressing private streets to allow for parking enforcement. Ald. Touchett brought up banning private streets in residential areas but be designated as a fire lane for businesses/commercial. Ald. Reekie asked that section 2 of the ordinance be removed and in section one it reads ‘All property adjacent to a private street shall be owned by a single entity. Any private street shall be designated as a fire lane and recorded as a fire lane on a plat map’. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Reekie to refer Ordinance No. 15-866 to the Plan Commission for feedback to provide back to the Public Safety Committee. Motion carried 3/0. 7. Adjournment.
