CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE JANUARY 9, 2017 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Scott Stewart at 6:00 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Scott Stewart, Heather Reekie and Evan Touchett present. Also in attendance: Police Chief Bernie Coughlin and City Clerk Ellen Clark. 3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Reekie, seconded by Stewart, to approve the minutes of the December 12, 2016 Public Safety and Welfare meeting. Motion carried 3-0. 4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: Ordinance No. 17-888 Amending Section 10-1-13 – Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Required Stops – of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Verona. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve Ordinance No. 17-888 amending Section 10-1-13 – Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Required Stops – of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Verona. Chief Coughlin stated that six new stop signs have been installed. Four of the five new north-south signs are in Cathedral Point, and one is at Keenan Court and E. Verona Avenue. One new east-west sign has gone in at the corner of Basilica Parkway and Locust Drive. The posts were installed several weeks ago to avoid having to pound through frozen ground later in the season. 5. Adjournment.
