MINUTES
1. Call to Order: Evan Touchett called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.
2. Roll call: Evan Touchett, Heather Reekie and Sarah Gaskell were present. Also present: Police
Chief Bernie Coughlin, Alwyn Fitzgerald, Gurprit Brar and City Clerk Ellen Clark.
3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Reekie, seconded by Gaskell, to approve the May 8, 2017
Minutes. Motion carried 3-0.
4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit Application from Phillip Hoechst for
the Hop Haus Brewing Company Multiple Sclerosis Fundraiser on Saturday, July 22, 2017.
Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve a Special Event Permit application from
Phillip Hoechst for the Hop Haus Brewing Company Multiple Sclerosis Fundraiser on Saturday,
July 22, 2017. Phil Hoechst has applied for a Special Event Permit for a fundraiser to be held on
Saturday, July 22, 2017 from Noon – 10 p.m. at Hop Haus Brewing Company, 231 S. Main Street.
The business’s parking lot will be used for seating, a food cart and live music, with metal
barricades marking the perimeter of the parking lot area. A temporary premise description
amendment is required for serving beer and wine in this area. Motion carried 2-0, with Touchett
abstaining.
5. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Temporary Premise Description Amendment for Class “C”
Wine License on Saturday, July 22, 2017, for the Hop Haus Brewing Company, LLC, 231 S. Main
Street, to include the front parking lot. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve a
temporary premise description amendment for Class “C” Wine license on Saturday, July 22,
2017 for the Hop Haus Brewing Company, LLC, 231 S. Main St., to include the parking lot.
Motion carried 2-0 with Touchett abstaining.
6. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit Application from Alwyn Fitzgerald for
a Grand Opening at Fisher King Winery, 1105 Laser Street, on Friday, May 26 – Sunday, May 28,
2017. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve a Special Event Permit application
from Alwyn Fitzgerald for a Grand Opening at Fisher King Winery, 1105 Laser Street, on Friday,
May 26 – Sunday, May 28, 2017, and to extend the Special Event Permit to include all regular
hours of operation between May 26, 2017 and June 18, 2017. The business’s patio area will be
used for outdoor seating, with metal barricades marking the perimeter of the area. Chief
Coughlin has no reservations regarding extending the permit to June 18, 2017. A temporary
premise description amendment is required for serving beer and wine in this area. Motion
carried 3-0.
7. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Temporary Premise Description Amendment for Class “B”
Fermented Malt Beverages and “Class B” Winery Licenses on Friday, May 26 – Sunday, May 28,
2017, for Fisher King Winery, 1105 Laser Street, to include an outdoor seating area. Motion by
Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve a temporary premise description amendment for
Class “B” Fermented Malt Beverages and “Class B” Winery Licenses to include an outdoor
seating area on Friday, May 26 – Sunday, May 28, 2017, and to extend the temporary premise
description to include all regular hours of operation from May 26 – June 18, 2017, for Fisher King
Winery, 1105 Laser Street. Motion carried 3-0.
8. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Premise Description Amendment for Class “B” Fermented
Malt Beverages and “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor Licenses for Sugar River Pizza Company –
Verona, LLC, 957 Liberty Drive, to Include an Outdoor Patio. Motion by Touchett, seconded by
Reekie, to approve a premise description amendment for Class “B” Fermented Malt Beverages
and “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor licenses for Sugar River Pizza Company – Verona, LLC, 957
Liberty Drive, to include an outdoor patio for the period of March 1st through October 31st each
year. The City Building Inspector, City Fire Inspector and Chief Coughlin have inspected the patio
area for conformance with police department and safety regulations. Motion carried 3-0.
9. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Combination Class “A” Fermented Malt Beverages and
“Class A” Intoxicating Liquor License for Brar Enterprises, Inc., d/b/a Verona Mobil. Motion by
Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve a Combination Class “A” Fermented Malt Beverages
and “Class A” Intoxicating Liquor License for Brar Enterprises, Inc., d/b/a Verona Mobil. Brar
Enterprises, Inc. has applied for a Combination Class “A” Fermented Malt Beverages and “Class
A” Intoxicating Liquor License for Verona Mobil, located at 101 E. Verona Avenue. Gurprit Brar is
the new lessee of the business and will be the appointed agent for the license. Approval of this
license will be contingent upon surrender of the current license for this property by Annie’s
Pantry, Verona, Inc. and a criminal record check of the agent by the Verona Police Department.
The lessee is aware of and agrees to these contingencies. Staff have inspected the building,
finding no corrections necessary. Motion carried 3-0.
10. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Gaskell, to adjourn at 6:57 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
