CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE SEPTEMBER 25, 2017 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to order: Evan Touchett called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Evan Touchett and Sarah Gaskell were present. Heather Reekie was absent and excused. Also present: Sergeant Jesse Christianson, Holly Licht, Samantha Robinson, Derek Dineen, and Louis Lettenmair. 3. Approval of Minutes Motion by Gaskell, seconded by Touchett, to approve the minutes from the September 11, 2017 Public Safety and Welfare Committee meeting. Motion carried 2-0. 4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit Application for “Bark, Scoot and Boogie” on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m., from Samantha Robinson, Shelter from the Storm. This is the first year for the event in Verona. The event is a fundraiser for the animal rescue. The event will be at Festival Park. Ms. Robinson has worked with Dave Walker in the Parks Department and gotten the approval to have dogs at the park, as long as they are leashed. There will be games for families, music, horse rides, and a beer tent. The Police Department will have an officer on site from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Mr. Touchett and Ms. Gaskell suggested that city dog license applications could be made available at the event. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Gaskell, to recommend that the Common Council approve a special event permit application for “Bark, Scoot and Boogie” on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Motion carried 2-0. 5. Discussion and Possible Action Re: An Application for a Temporary Class “B”/”Class B” Retailer’s License from Shelter from the Storm for “Bark, Scoot and Boogie” on October 7, 2017 from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Festival Park. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Gaskell to recommend that the Common Council approve a temporary Class “B”/”Class B” Retailer’s License from Shelter from the Storm for “Bark, Scoot and Boogie on October 7, 2017 from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. contingent upon the applicant securing a licensed liquor distributor for the event. Motion carried 2-0. 6. Discussion and Possible Action Re: An Application for Class “B” Beer and “Class C” Wine Licenses from 48 Taps, LLC, d/b/a Mr. Brew’s Taphouse, 611 Hometown Circle, #104, Verona, Wisconsin, Derek Dineen, Agent. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Gaskell to recommend that the Common Council approve an application for Class “B” Beer and “Class C” Wine Licenses from 48 Taps, LLC, d/b/a Mr. Brew’s Taphouse, 611 Hometown Circle, #104, Verona, Wisconsin, Derek Dineen, Agent. Motion carried 2-0. 7. Discussion and Possible Action Re: An Application for Class “B” Beer and “Class C” Wine Licenses from Garlic Mouth, LLC, d/b/a Jordandal Cookhouse, 600 W. Verona Avenue, Suites 5 & 6, Verona, Wisconsin, Louis Lettenmair, Jr., Agent. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Gaskell to recommend that the Common Council approve a provisional Class “B” Beer and “Class C” Wine Licenses from Garlic Mouth, LLC, d/b/a Jordandal Cookhouse, 600 W. Verona Avenue Suites 5 & 6, Verona, Wisconsin, Louis Lettenmair, Jr., Agent for the period of October 1, 2017-October 31, 2017 . Motion carried 2-0. 8. Adjournment: Motion by Gaskell, seconded by Touchett, to adjourn at 6:40 p.m. Motion carried 2-0.
