MINUTES
1. Call to order: Heather Reekie called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Heather Reekie and Katie Kohl were present. Evan Touchett was absent and
excused. Also present: Police Chief Bernie Coughlin and City Clerk Ellen Clark. Patricia
Ullsperger, representing Fisher King Winery, was also present.
3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Kohl, seconded by Reekie, to approve the minutes
from the June 25, 2018 Public Safety and Welfare Committee meeting.
Motion carried 3-0.
4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit application from Patricia
Ullsperger for the Fisher King Winery 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 15,
2018 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Fisher King Winery is sponsoring a 5K Fun Run/Walk, with
proceeds going to the Dane County Humane Society. Race Day Events is supplying
fencing and signage for the event. The event route begins and ends at Fisher King
Winery, and follows CTH PB, CTH M, and the Ice Age Trail. Route crossing at CTH PB will
be facilitated by an officer, who will then remain at the winery until 3 p.m. A post-race
celebration will be held in the parking lot in front of the winery, offering food, beverages
and music. A temporary premises description amendment is required for serving alcohol
in the winery’s parking lot. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Kohl, to recommend to the
Common Council to approve a Special Event Permit application from Patricia Ullsperger
for the Fisher King Winery 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 9
a.m. – 3 p.m., contingent upon submission of a Certificate of Insurance naming City of
Verona as the Certificate Holder. Motion carried 2-0.
5. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A temporary premises description amendment for
Fisher King Winery, 1105 Laser Street, to include the parking lot area in front of the
winery on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. This premises description
amendment is required for serving alcohol in the Fisher King Winery parking lot during
the post-race celebration. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Kohl, to recommend to the
Common Council to approve a temporary premises description amendment for Fisher
King Winery, 1105 Laser Street, to include the fenced parking lot area in front of the
winery on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motion carried 2-0.
7. Adjournment: Motion by Reekie, seconded by Kohl, to adjourn at 5:41 p.m. Motion
carried 2-0.
