CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 26, 2018 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to order: Heather Reekie called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Heather Reekie, Katie Kohl and Evan Touchett were present. Also present: Police Chief Bernie Coughlin, Sergeant Jesse Christensen, and City Clerk Ellen Clark. 3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Touchett, seconded by Kohl, to approve the minutes from the November 12, 2018 Public Safety and Welfare Committee meeting. Motion carried 3-0. 4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: An application for a Special Event Permit from Emily Peterson for the Arthritis Foundation of Wisconsin’s Jingle Bell Run on Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Sergeant Christensen explained that the Jingle Bell Run is a fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation. This is the fifth year for the event in Verona. The event has two routes: a 5K run and a 1-mile walk. The 1-mile walk takes place completely on school grounds. The run begins at 10 a.m. Event coordinators will be on site from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Officers will also be assigned to the event. No Parking signs will be posted along the 5K route three days before the event, and a resident notification form will be mailed to residents along the route approximately 10 days in advance of the event. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve a Special Event Permit application from Emily Peterson for the Arthritis Foundation of Wisconsin’s Jingle Bell Run on Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Motion carried 3-0. 5. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Change of Agent request from MIRK, LLC, d/b/a Drafthouse Bar and Restaurant, 1010 Enterprise Drive, Verona, WI 53593. Drafthouse Bar and Restaurant is requesting a change of agent for their Combination Class “B” and “Class B” Liquor License from Mark A. Franklin to Chad R. Geissler. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Kohl, to recommend to the Common Council to approve the Change of Agent request for MIRK, LLC, d/b/a Drafthouse Bar and Restaurant, 1010 Enterprise Drive, Verona, WI 53593.
