Public Works, Sewer and Water

CITY OF VERONA MINUTES PUBLIC WORKS/SEWER & WATER COMMITTEE MONDAY, APRIL 22, 2013 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson William McGilvray at 5:30 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Present: William McGilvray, Luke Diaz, Heather Reekie. Also present: Bob Gundlach, City Engineer, Amy Canfield, AECOM, Bill Burns, City Administrator, Jon Hochkammer, Mayor, Dick Vock, Ron Rieder, Public Works Director. 3. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to approve the minutes of the April 8, 2013 meeting of the Public Works/Sewer and Water Committee. Motion carried 3-0. 4. Amy Canfield presented the Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) for the Epic Campus. She reported that the transportation improvement recommendations were based on 8,000 employees and 11,000 employees. The Committee took no action on the TIA. 5. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to approve Change Order #3 for Well #5 construction and testing in the amount of a deduct of $3,577.00. Motion carried 3-0. 6. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Reekie, to approve the Professional Services Agreement with Ruekert-Mielke for Arc GIS web based application tools for the Sewer, Water and Stormwater Utilities in an amount not to exceed $45,650.00. Motion carried 3-0. 7. Ron Rieder informed the Committee that during the excavation for Well #5 Pump Station and Ground Reservoir that the contractor encountered unstable soil conditions which resulted removing the unstable soils and backfilling the area with granular material. He is anticipating a change order for this work in the range of $60,000.00 to $70,000.00. No action was taken. 8. Bill Burns discussed the proposed changes to the Locust Drive Bridge Agreement with the Committee. There were some concerns raised how bike and pedestrian traffic would be accommodated in the interim prior to the bridge reconstruction. No action was taken. 9.
