Discussion and Possible Action: Resolution R-24-020 Accepting Public Improvements Adjacent to Arrowhead Pharmaceutical. Moved by B. Braithwaite and seconded by B. Tucker Long to accept public Improvements adjacent to Arrowhead Pharmaceutical. Motion carried 2-0. 6. Discussion and Possible Action: 1st Review of Draft Brush Collection Policy Staff presented draft changes to the City’s curbside collection policy. B. Tucker Long suggested changing the pickup day to the second Monday of each month of collection. B. Braithwaite suggested adding additional pickups earlier and later in the year. B. Tucker Long would like pickups to occur April-October. B. Braithwaite agreed. Staff will bring back the draft policy with the changes to pickup months to a subsequent meeting. 7. Item (5) Pay Request #6 Project #2023-105 Staff and contracted inspectors have verified the quantities and recommend approval of the included pay request. Recommended Motion: Recommend approval of pay request #6 for Project #2023-105 in the amount of $155,426.91. Item (6) Review of Draft Brush Collection Policy The initial draft was reviewed by PWS&W Committee in July. Included in the packet the ipdated draft policy that reflects changes/edits from the last review. Name 8/21/2024 Date City of Verona Name Date Owner's approval Date  City of Verona Brush Collection Policy Curbside Brush Collection Overview: Brush collection is intended as a convenience to City of Verona property owners performing routine tree or shrub maintenance at their property. Brush collection is not a service to support residential land clearing or tree removal activities, or work performed by commercial contractors. Schedule: Curbside collection of brush occurs the second Monday of the month from April through October (7 collections per year). For the purposes of traffic and pedestrian safety, brush should not be placed at the curb until the Friday before the start of brush collection and must be placed by 7:00 a.m. the following Monday. Curbside brush collection requirements: • Tree branches must be less than 12 feet in length. • Log diameter must be less than 8 inches. • As much as possible, brush should be neatly stacked with cut ends facing the same direction. • Small sticks and twigs should be placed in a bucket or container at the curb. Curbside brush will NOT be collected if: • Brush or trees were cut by a contractor. • Branches are longer than 12 feet in length or logs are larger than 8 inches in diameter. • Piles are not stacked neatly. • Brush is placed outside of the designated collection times. • Brush is placed closer than 5’ from parked vehicles, traffic signs, fire hydrants, light poles, mailboxes or other obstructions that hinder staff’s ability to safely collect brush piles. Other uncollectable items frequently placed at the curb: • Yard waste (for example grass clipping, leaves, flowers, etc.) • Construction materials, or any other non-natural wood items. • Root balls are only accepted at the drop-off site. Examples of root balls include hanging baskets plants/flowers, hostas, tomato plants, etc. Emergency Brush Collection • In the event of a severe weather event causing widespread damage, the Director of Public Works may authorize additional brush collection activities. Notification of emergency brush collection is coordinated through the Communications Manager. Curbside Holiday Tree Collection Schedule: • Holiday trees are collected on the 2nd and 4th Monday in January. For the purpose of keeping curbs clear for snowplowing, trees should not be placed at the curb until the Friday before the start of brush collection and must be placed by 7:00 a.m. the following Monday. Requirements: • Trees should be placed at the curb, parallel to the roadway.  • Trees must be free of decorations (i.e. no ornaments, lights, garland, etc.). • No artificial trees will be collected. Drop-Off Site – Yard Waste & Brush Location: 2159 Range Trail, Verona WI, 53593 Overview: The drop-off site is a convenience to property owners in the City of Verona and is not a support service for residential land clearing, tree removal, or commercial/contractor activities. The site is a place to deposit yard waste and brush from routine yard maintenance. Brush and yard waste generated through a contractor will not be accepted. The drop-off site is located at 2159 Range Trail, Verona WI, 53593 Schedule: The drop-off site is open all year from dawn to dusk. During winter snow events, the drop-off site serves as a depository of City snow operations and may be temporarily closed. Open and closed signs are posted at the entryway to the site. Guidelines: • Brush and yard waste materials must be placed in the appropriate piles as indicated by posted signs. • Brush no longer than 12’ in length. • Brush no larger than 8’’ in diameter. • No bags will be accepted. • No root balls with the exception of garden and vegetable root balls (i.e. hanging baskets plants/flowers, hostas, tomato plants, etc.) • Construction materials or any other wood products will not be accepted.
