Verona Senior Citizens Commission Nov. 14, 2017 Meeting Minutes Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Stiner at 6:02 PM. Present: Luke Diaz, Brad Stiner, Louis Eifert, Mary Hanson. Excused: Mac McGilvray. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve Oct. minutes, Stiner, seconded by Diaz. Approved, 2-0. Director’s Report  A consultant was hired to research the air quality.  We are preparing to roll out Schedules Plus, our new software.  60 people attended the Oct. 31 Halloween Party. The skit will be aired on Verona cable TV.  Over 100 people attended the Nov. 10 Veteran’s event. There was a flag-raising, a speaker, & lunch. 19 veterans received quilts from Quilts of Valor. The event will be on Verona cable TV.  The Chili Supper will be held Dec. 1. Several Holiday events are planned for December.  The Community Paramedic Program has been extended to include seniors at risk of falls as well as people with dementia.  Becky & Mary attended WASC conference in Sturgeon Bay.  Accreditation Presentation planned for Nov. 20. Dementia Friendly Community Report No new trainings were held this month. Case Management Report October 2017 Office/home visit/outreach: 96 Groups: Caregivers group, Parkinson’s group & Veterans group. Training or outreach meetings: TRIAD meeting, TRIAD Car Check/Car Fit at Hometown Auto, outreach at local senior housing facilities: Sugar Creek, Prairie Oaks II, Evia, Park Verona, Shettler Terrace, Verona Public Library, and Noel Manor. Held first outreach meeting at New Age condos with Brad Stiner. Assist clients with Medicare Part D open enrollment. Referred client to Community Paramedic program. Working with Dane Co. Sheriff’s Department and Verona PD on referrals. Program Report October 2017 Participation by Gender: Female 72% Male 28% Participation by Location: City of Verona: 66% Out of Town: 34% Participation by Age: Under 60: 4% Ages 60-64: 8% Ages 65-69: 20% Ages 70-74: 17% Ages 75-79: 16% Ages 80-84: 14% Ages 85 +: 21% Average Daily Users: 82 Event Hours: 4653 Total Seniors Served: Unduplicated, 426, Duplicated, 2369 Volunteers Hours Recorded: 352 Special October Programs: Health & Vendor Fair, October Fest with the Dang-Its, Gibraltar Rock Hike, Car Fit/Car Check, Harpist Shari Sarazin, Birthday Party with Mike McCloskey, Halloween Party, Writing Your Memoir classes, Rhapsody Arts Intergenerational Music Program, Fish Fry outing. Ongoing Programs: Coffee hour, fitness & yoga classes, support groups, cards, support groups, tech assistance, book club, game night, and wellness nurse services. Financial Update: As of 11/07/17, we are 84% through the year and have spent 67% of budget. Friends of Verona Senior Center Report A Pie Social fundraiser was held on Nov. 4 from 11 AM - 5 PM.
