Captains may receive one (1) pay raise per year after completing fifth tier, with satisfactory evaluation and physical agility test (which includes longevity of .25 cents for twenty (20) years). ID-19-0939 Pay Adjustment - Police Department (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve Pay Adjustment of a Police Officer from $15.96 per hour to $16.16 per hour, effective August 25, 2019 in the Police Department. Officer is entitled to an additional .20 cents per hour for two (2) years of service. ID-19-0940 Longevity Pay - Recreation (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve Longevity Pay of a Director from $25.88 per hour to $26.14 per hour, effective August 9, 2019 in the Recreation Department. Employee is entitled an additional .09 cents increase for fifteen (15) years of service. ID-19-0941 Longevity Pay - Accounting (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve Longevity Pay of an Accounting Specialist II from $22.67 per hour to $22.93 per hour, effective August 11, 2019, in the Accounting Department. Employee is entitled to an additional increase of .09 cents for fifteen (15) years of service. ID-19-0942 Longevity Pay - Fire Department (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve Longevity Pay of a Firefighter from $10.33 per hour to $10.39 per hour in the Fire Department. Employee is entitled to an additional .06 cents per hour for ten (10) years of service. ID-19-0943 Longevity Pay - Gas Department (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve Longevity Pay of a Laborer from $9.25 per hour to $9.34 per hour, effective August 19, 2019 in the Gas Department. Employee is entitled to an additional .09 cents per hour for five (5) years of service. ID-19-0944 Suspension - City Clerk (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the two (2) day Suspension of a Deputy Clerk, effective August 19, 2019, in the City Clerk's Office. Employee attempted to clock out for lunch utilizing the time clock located on the first floor of City Hall. After three (3) unsuccessful attempts, employee punched the time clock which resulted in the glass breaking. Employee will be assessed the cost of the damages for the clock. ID-19-0945 Suspension - Community Service (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the five (5) day Suspension of an employee, effective August 19, 2019, in the Community Service Department. After backing up and hitting another vehicle, employee pulled off and left the scene of the accident. ID-19-0946 Suspension (Immediate) - Community Service (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the (Immediate) Suspension of a Community Service Director on August 8, 2019, in the Community Service Department for violation of the COV Personnel Rules and Regulations, specifically Section 4.1(i) (n) as well as the COV Arrest Policy due to an incident occuring on July 27, 2019. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, and Alderman Monsour Jr. L. ID-19-0947 Suspension (Immediate) - Sewer Department (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the (Immediate) Suspension of a Laborer in the Sewer Department. Employee was suspended immediately due to safety concerns for exhibiting threatening behavior towards an employee in the form of a gun by a hand gesture, as well as a verbal threat. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, and Alderman Monsour Jr. M. ID-19-0948 Suspension - Police Department (1) Employee Resigned N. ID-19-0949 Termination - Police Department (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the (Immediate)Termination of a Police Officer in the Police Department. The officer employment started with VPD on July 31, 2019. Since July 31, 2019, the officer has been tardy for work three (3) times in eight (8) days while under is six (6) month probationary period. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, and Alderman Monsour Jr. O. ID-19-0950 Termination - Community Service (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to amend the Termination of a Community Service Directior in the Community Service Department. Recommendation is to allow the time employee has been suspended due to violation of the Arrest Policy and the COV Personnel Rules and Regulations to serve as disciplinary action. Employee has been suspended since August 8, 2019, and is due to return to work on August 20, 2019, with forty-five (45) day probation. ID-19-0951 Termination - Sewer Department (1) On motion of Alderman Monsour, Jr., seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the Termination of a Laborer, effective August 19, 2019, in the Sewer Department. Employee was terminated for violating the COV Personnel Rules and Regulations, specifically Section 4.1(f)(g)(i)(dd). Employee is also still within the six (6) month probation period.
