Approval of the Minutes: VPAC23-255 Approve minutes from the January 17 meeting •January 17, 2023 minutes passed as written Guest: Ken Britz with Vienna Art Society presented the 2023 Bench project to the VPAC. Installation is scheduled for April 28, 2023. The auction is scheduled for November 11, 2023 at the Community Center. VPAC23-257 Chairman’s report •VPAC is on the schedule to have a booth at VIVA! •The drain art will be powerwashed next week-starting on Church St, then next month the drain art around the Community Center will be removed •Mayor Colbert would like to see more student invovlement on VPAC-suggestion to reach out to sophomores in high school. Ms. Cousins presented two renderings for the pipe mural project by Teresa Ahmad (Mario Bros. and flowers/butterflies). Floral rendering is preferred with a suggestion of native plants. Lu will take suggestion back to artist for a different rendering. VPAC23-256 VPAF Treasurer’s •There is $21,938.27 in the VPAF account 3. Regular Business VPAC23-258 Report on New Day mural project Ms. Kennedy reported that a project plan is in the works and should be done in the coming weeks to include a website with Town links, recruitment flyer, pitch meetings and working with the artist to aquire a rendering. Town groups and organizations with contact information are requested by Ms. Kennedy to be added on a master list for project promotion. Mr. Cheselka will be the point of contact for the project site work. The artist is still working on a rendering. Mr. Cheselka will request to get on the Town Council agenda for April to allow more time for the artist to complete the rendering. VPAC23-259 Vote to approve reimbursement to Bill Comerford Town of Vienna Page 1 Printed on 3/23/2023 Vienna Public Art Commission Meeting Minutes February 21, 2023 •Vote to approve reimbursement for Bill Comerford Ms. Cousins made a motion to approve the reimbursement to Mr. Comerford for payment to Upwork Inc. -used in finding a grant writer for the VPAF. The dollar amount is unknown at this time and will be brought to the March meeting. Ms. Kang seconded the motion VPAC23-260 Discuss renderings for mural projects No update VPAC23-261 Grant writer search report Ms. Comerford announced that a grant writer has been hired by the VPAF. Caroline Vincent has a lot of experience in creating calls for artists but will primarily focus on what grants are available. VPAC23-263 Cherry Street wall Ideas for the wall need to be brought to the March VPAC meeting. Moving away from murals. 4. New Business •Social media and website update Ms. Boms reported in order to gain more followers, a website for the VPAF should be used as a landing page. The cost to run the website would be roughly $324 annually. Ms. Kang made a motion to approve the funding for a VPAF website. Ms. Cousins seconded the motion.
