Approval of the Minutes: VPAC23-277 Approve minutes from the March 21, 2023 meeting March 21, 2023 minutes passed as written VPAC23-278 Special guest, Leslie Herman, Parks and Recreation Director, speaking on Parks and Recreation’s staff ideas for the Cherry Street enclosure walls. Leslie Herman presented Parks and Recreation staff idea for the Cherry St. wall project. 3-D metal artwork with a nature and recreation theme (biking, trees, birds, flowers) with no lettering, to inculde solar uplighting. VPAC23-279 VPAF Treasurer’s report No update VPAC23-280 Chairman’s report Ms.Boms presented a VPAC project timeline. Mr. Comerford will update this document each month. Mr. Cheselka and Town Council members met David Reynolds and a few with Vienna Jammers to test the noise level from the instruments played at Centenial Park. Council members felt the sound was acceptable. Mr. Cheselka contacted NOVA Parks to reaffirm the use of the space. NOVA Parks new leadership has no record of past approval of the space. New site plans and specs will have to be resubmitted. Mr. Cheslka suggests in ground installation which would increase the project by $600. 3. Regular Business VPAC23-281 Viva Vienna Ms. Boms presented the two kids activities 1.) 3X3 sticker graphic designs. Votes were cast for favorite choice during the meeting. There will be two designs. 500 stickers will be ordered. 2.) 4X6 Tree mural with stickers (butterflies, flowers, leaves). Ms. Blevins will arrange for the use of narrow tables from the Communtiy Center to be used inside the tent. Mr. Cheselka will pick up before the event. VPAC23-282 Banner VPAC banner was presented and will be used at the booth for Viva and other events. VPAC23-283 Town Hall pipes update Mayor Colbert suggested daisies and cardinals. The artist, is working on renderings. VPAC23-284 New Day mural update April 26 BAR work session-Ms. Kennedy will present the design. May 9 Ms. Kennedy will speak to the JMHS PTA about the New Day project to recruit volunteers to assist with project organization. May 18 BAR will vote to approve. June 5- Council will vote to approve the design. Mr. Cheselka will choose wall prep and painting dates, then inform Ms. Kennedy who will then inform Parks and Recreation so the dates can be put on their calendar. VPAC23-285 Grant writer update The wording needs to be changed from VPAC to VPAF. Contract needs to be finalized. New Business VPAC23-287 Bench promotion Vienna Art Society bench promotion- April 28 & 29 the benches will be displayed throughout the Town. VPAC23-288 New ideas for public art and locations for 2024 No update VPAC/VPAF work session May 8 from 7-9 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center- how to fulfill the Master Plan and solidify the vision. Ms. Boms will send out more details about what the work session will entail. 4. Meeting Adjournment Mr. Comerford made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Barrett seconded the motion.
