Regular Meeting Minutes May 15, 2025 MINUTES FOR THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTE OF THE BOROUGH OF WALDWICK HELD ON THURSDAY MAY 20, 2025 OPENING PORTION • Call to Order: Executive Director Tom McCormick called the meeting to order and read the Statement of Compliance. • Roll Call: Tom McCormick also took the roll call. Present were: o Thomas McCormick, o Dr. Mohammad Ahsan, o David Isaacs, o Dan Montella o David Zilkowski • There was no meeting in April due to lack of a quorum. Therefore there were no meeting minutes from April. PUBLIC PORTION o No public portion OLD BUSINESS • Steven Neale met with SouceCompost on Monday 5/12/25. • Tom McCormick to arrange a follow up meeting with Steven Neale to discuss next steps for Flower Box Project (grants, School Superintendent, and Town Engineer - Joe Mysliwiec?) and SourceCompost (regarding an composting educational presentation at the library, a composting bin being placed at the DPW and available grant opportunities). • Michelle Dill will be replacing Abby Diaz as the new Environmental Club president at the high school to possibly help with monthly cleanups. Michelle and her High School Advisor for their Environmental Club are to be invited to visit our monthly meetings. • T Shirt update needed. • Deer sign update needed. • Water conversation ordinance update needed. • Tom McCormick proposes members from the Environmental Advisory Committee present to the Town Council twice a year. NEW BUSINESS • New Committee member being sought to replace Dr. Raina Parvanov-Dawson. Some of the Committee members would like to propose Meghan Bisi to the Town Council to replace Raina. Meghan is a Green Team member who consistently shows up to Environmental Committee meetings. • Garbage bin needs to be placed outside of Dunkin. 1|Page Regular Meeting Minutes May 15, 2025 • Proposed fine increase (greater than $10) for feeding fowl and littering to be brought to the Town Council. See what fines other neighboring towns have for reference. • Proposed posting of ordinance signs and fines for oil disposal into drains in select areas around town (mechanic shops) and in commercial and residential neighborhoods to be brought to the Town Council. • Reviving/rejuvenating the Green Team- Beautification Committee. o Tom McCormick will speak with Steve Neale, Mark Ramundo, Michelle Weber and Joe Oravetz. o Green Team needs a main Point-of-Contact (POC) who is well connected in town who can help promote (social media), organize, and mobilize team members. o We need to also clearly identify and the roles and responsibilities of Green Team members (in addition to what's on the website)..e.g., assisting with expanded polystyrene (EPS) drives, town cleanups, etc. o We also need to update the Green Team member list on the website. • Next Committee meeting proposed for June 12 in light of June 19 Federal Holiday. CORRESPONDENCE • None. ADJOURNMENT • A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Tom McCormick and seconded by another committee member. The meeting concluded around 8:00 pm.
