Community Room Rentals Discussion Adjournment Page 1 of 18  CITY OF WALKER INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM TO: Building Committee FROM: Jason Rottman, Director DATE: April 22, 2026 RE: Main campus wayfinding project There has been a need to update signage on the main campus, and with the upcoming library changes, Darrel decided last fall that now would be a good time to make those updates. Staff worked with Postma Signs, the low bidder and the vendor performing the signage work at the library, to create the attached signage package. Key updates include: • Clear road signage indicating which function each driveway serves • Building identification to indicate the function of each building (for example, adding “59th District Court” and “Police Department” to the Public Safety Building) • Lettering above public-facing doors to direct visitors to the correct entrance. Moving forward, we would reference these door letters on the City website and in mailings to improve wayfinding. As proposed, this project would cost $370,000, broken down as $320,685 for signage work by Postma Signs, $40,000 for electrical work, and $9,315 in contingency funds. The signage package reflects the Fire Administration's current location at Fire Station #1. If they move, we will update the plan to reflect that change before the signs are built. I am requesting feedback from the Building Committee on the proposed updates. If the committee is favorable to the plan, I am requesting a motion to approve and a recommendation to the finance committee. I will attend the meeting on the 27th to answer any questions.
