Public Safety Millage Update Adjournment Page 1 of 3  PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES COMMISSION CONFERENCE ROOM MONDAY, JUNE 8, 2026 5:30 PM Call Meeting to Order - Record Attendance Committee Members: Elaina Huizenga-Chase, Jessica Babcock, and Roxanne Deschaine Also in Attendance: Shay Gallagher, Keith Mankel, Brandyn Heugel, Dan DeVries, Scott Conners, and Emily Mankel Discussion Items Approval of Minutes from May 11, 2026 Motion by Jessica Babcock, seconded by Roxanne Deschaine to approve the minutes from May 11, 2026. Motion Carried. Police and Fire Department Updates Deputy Chief Heugel provided an update on staffing within the police department which included recent promotions, training status of new recruits, and a retirement notice. She also noted that all department staff will participate in an upcoming Emergency Vehicle Operations training. Fire department updates were provided by Chief Mankel. He stated that meetings have taken place with all full time staff. He went on to speak about staffing including the Battalion Chief positions, new recruits, and night time call coverage. Chief Mankel briefly spoke about staff evaluations, budget review, and site plan review assistance form Wyoming FD. Discussion took place regarding scheduled trainings and upcoming projects. Public Safety Millage and Facility Updates Manager Gallagher has been in communication with Sabo PR regarding upcoming millage education and communication and a meeting has taken place with Civic Plus to set up a dedicated website. He mentioned that applications are being reviewed for the Communications Manager position and discussion has Public Safety Committee Minutes 6-8-26 Page 1 of 2 Page 2 of 3  taken place regarding hiring a fire chief. Director Scott Conners provided a memo regarding public safety facilities planning which included a potential layout for the upper level at station #2.
