Traffic Safety
Discussion Items
1. Lake Michigan / Ferndale Traffic Signal: A discussion will occur
regarding pedestrian crossing safety at this intersection. Crash history,
intersection lighting, crosswalk markings, and traffic signal timing will be
reviewed. Coordination with the future traffic signal at Lake Michigan
and LaSalle will also be reviewed.
2. Maplerow - South of Leonard Traffic Calming: Melvin Hutchens, 1081
Maplerow, has requested that speed humps be installed to slow
speeding vehicle on Maplerow, south of Leonard.
3. Maplerow - North of Richmond Traffic Calming: Michael Tietz, 2178
Maplerow, and Rob Flermoen, 2161 Maplerow, have requested that
speed humps be installed to slow speeding vehicles on Maplerow,
north of Richmond; or that a 3-way stop be installed at the intersection
of Maplerow and Kinview. They are concerned specifically about cut-
through vehicles the utilize Maplerow to avoid the traffic signal at
Remembrance and Kinney.
4. Manning - Disabled Child Warning Sign: Kelsey Ulberg, 1941 Maning,
has requested that a warning sign be installed to alert drivers to her
child who has been diagnosed with vision impairment, epilepsy, and
autism. The Ulberg’s health care case manager also contacted the
Engineering Department to second this request. The family and health
care team are working with the child to encourage him not to play near
the road. The sign is being requested as an added precaution.
