Town of Wallburg, North Carolina Town Council Meeting - Wallburg Town Hall 8020 N. NC-HIGHWAY 109 TUESDAY 7:00 P.M. January 8, 2019 2ND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH MINUTES PROCEDURAL ITEMS CALL TO ORDER Mayor Allen Todd called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem Zane Hedgecock, Council Members, Lynn Reece, and Councilwoman Cindy Johnson. Councilman Steve Yokeley and Councilman Mark Swaim were absent. The town’s attorney, Jay Wagner, was present along with the town clerk, Donna Alwine. After an invocation by Councilman Lynn Reece, Councilwoman Cindy Johnson led the pledge of allegiance. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF AGENDA Mayor Pro Tem Zane Hedgecock made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Councilwoman Cindy Johnson seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF DRAFT MINUTES  November 13, 2018 Regular Meeting Minutes MINUTES for the above regular meeting were unanimously approved on a motion by Councilman Lynn Reece, seconded by Councilwoman Cindy Johnson. The motion passed unanimously. PUBLIC SESSION  PLEASE SIGN UP WITH TOWN CLERK/Mayor – 3-MINUTE TIME LIMIT FOR SPEAKING No Speakers BUSINESS TO BE DISCUSSED AND/OR ACTED UPON: 1. Resolution #19-001 to adopt the 2019 town council regular meeting dates was presented. Mayor Pro Tem Zane Hedgecock moved to accept the resolution, seconded by Councilman Lynn Reece. The motion carried with a unanimous vote 3 to 0. 2. Closed session for purpose of discussing a real estate matter pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11 (a)(5). At 7:03 P.M. Councilman Lynn Reece motioned to open the closed session meeting. Seconded by Councilwoman Cindy Johnson. The motion was unanimously approved. After the council members returned to the chambers, at 7:16 P.M. Mayor Pro Tem Zane Hedgecock motioned to close the closed session meeting. Councilwoman Cindy Johnson seconded. The motion was unanimously approved. REGULAR MONTHLY AND COMMITTEE UPDATES AS AVAILABLE (COMMITTEE UPDATES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IF MEETING WAS NOT HELD OR UNATTENDED)  1. Finance Update – Mark Swaim A brief update on the finances of the Town for December 31, 2019: CASH $ 2,497,244.28 CAPITAL FUND-First National $ 651,725.22 MONEY MARKET-Capital Bank $ 249,200.60 TAXES RECEIVABLE $ 7,862.84 DUE FROM OTHER GOVTS. $ 156,924.30 TOTAL: $ 3,562,957.24 2. Wall Home Update – The open house is planned for February 17 from 2 – 4 P.M. The painters are still working to complete the job. 3. Town Hall Park Construction – Councilman Steve Yokeley absent. Waiting on the weather to break so that construction can begin again. 4. MPO – High Point – Lynn Reece - Councilman Lynn Reece advised there was no meeting held. 5. MPO - Winston-Salem - Mayor Allen Todd – Mayor Todd advised that there was no meeting held. OTHER INFORMATON: Attorney Jay Wagner advised that on January 28th the US Airforce Band will be performing at the High Point Theatre at 7:00 P.M. The event is free, but limited to 4 tickets.
