Town of Wallburg, North Carolina Town Council Meeting - Wallburg Town Hall 8020 N. NC-HIGHWAY 109 TUESDAY, 7:00 P.M. January 10, 2023 2ND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH MINUTES PROCEDURAL ITEMS CALL TO ORDER Mayor Allen Todd called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Present were the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tempore Zane Hedgecock, Council Members, Mark Swaim, Cindy Johnson, and Councilman Lynn Reece, and Councilman Steve Yokeley. The Town Attorney, Jay Wagner was present along with the Town Clerk, Donna Alwine. After an invocation by Councilwoman Cindy Johnson, Councilman Mark Swaim led the pledge of allegiance to the American flag. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF AGENDA Councilwoman Cindy Johnson made a motion to approve the agenda as presented, Councilman Mark Swaim seconded, and the motion passed unanimously (5-0). MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF DRAFT MINUTES  December 13, 2022, Regular Meeting Minutes MINUTES for the above meeting were unanimously approved (5-0) as submitted on motion by Councilman Lynn Reece seconded by Councilman Steve Yokeley. PUBLIC SESSION – no speakers BUSINESS TO BE DISCUSSED AND/OR ACTED UPON: 1. Councilman Steve Yokeley updated the town council on the clearing process for the property located at 8411 N NC Hwy 109. He is awaiting the bids of three vendors to come in for the clearing and cleaning of property. He will advise upon receiving them. A special meeting may need to be called to view the quotes if they arrive prior to February’s scheduled council meeting. REGULAR MONTHLY AND COMMITTEE UPDATES AS AVAILABLE (COMMITTEE UPDATES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IF MEETING WAS NOT HELD OR UNATTENDED) 1. Finance Update – December 31, 2022 Mark Swaim gave a brief update on the finances of the Town: CASH $ 1,406,735.84 CAPITAL FUND-First National $ 812,381.55 MONEY MARKET-Capital Bank $ 248,881.37 MONEY MARKET-First National $ 1,902,973.68 COVID Fund Account $ 729,518.92 Wall Home Checking $ 244.50 Town Park Checking $ 220.00 TAXES RECEIVABLE $ 7,862.84 DUE FROM OTHER GOVTS. $ 156,924.30 TOTAL: $ 5,265,743.00 2. Wall Home Update – A Thank you to Councilwoman Cindy Johnson and Mayor Pro Tempore Zane Hedgecock for the constant and consistent work on the George W Wall Historic Home committee. It was agreed in a consensus for them to continue to chair that committee. Tony Craven will be working on some signage at the home to make the entrance and exit of the home more visible. 3. Town Hall Park Construction –Councilman Steve Yokeley is awaiting the site plan for the covered platform in the amphitheater. 4. MPO – High Point – No meeting – no report 5. MPO – No report. All meetings will be virtual this year. OTHER INFORMATION: ADJOURNMENT At 7:15P.M. Councilman Steve Yokeley moved to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Lynn Reece, approved unanimously (5-0).
