Call To Order And Roll Call R Mayor Mike Walters called the Watertown City Council work session to order at 5:37 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Councilmembers present: Mike Walters, Kay Thul, Adam Pawelk and Fred McGuire D Councilmembers absent: Dan Schuette City Staff present: Interim City Administrator Tom Hanson and Administrative Services Director Michael Sommerfeld 2. New Business 2.I. 2025 CCSO Policing Contract Information Introduction of Carver County Sheriff Kamerud and Commander Wolin. Commander Wolin shared background information with Council, including a 6-1/2 percent increase in a regional model. Mayor Walters asked about Watertown Township Contract coverage and was corrected by Sheriff office personnel that the townships have "base level" coverage. Mayor Walters expressed the need to have deputies in town. Councilmember McGuire asked for an explanation of "regionalization". Commander Wolin explained approach of shared policing with Mayer, New Germany and Watertown. Mayor Walters re-iterated the essence of response time. Commander Wolin reciprocated and said 10 or 12 hours would be spent in Watertown. Sherrif Kamerud intersected about current regional models.
