VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING JUNE 13, 2017 Members present: Steve Kraus, Chris Zellner, Sam Ballweg, and Renee Meinholz Also present: Todd Schmidt Chairman Kraus called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M. CONSENT AGENDA #1 Motion by Sam Ballweg, second by Chris Zellner to approve the consent agenda (approval of minutes – March 28, 2017) Motion Passed. For: 3, Against: 0 NEW BUSINESS #1-DISCUSS CONTRACT FOR AUDITING SERVICES Finance Director explained that the current auditor, Schenck, is at the end of their current contract. Past practice has been to do an RFP for auditing services every 3-5 years. It is up to the committee to decide whether to do an RFP this year or request a quote from Schenck to continue. Discussion ensued. The Committee directed the Finance Director to obtain a quote from Schenck for an additional year and if that is reasonable, to forego a full RFP this year. NEW BUSINESS #2-DISCUSS PRELIMINARY FINANCIAL IMPACTS OF PROPOSED LIBRARY Finance Director provided a library borrowing and a library operating analysis of the impacts of the new library on the levy and tax rate. The information was based on the most recent data obtained from the library director, which dated back to last fall. The Committee directed the Administrator to obtain more current estimates from the library and work with the Finance Director to prepare information for a Finance Committee meeting on July 6, 2017. NEW BUSINESS #3-DISCUSS PRELIMINARY 2018 BUDGET OBJECTIVES Finance Director went over draft 2018 budget calendar. Administrator shared changes that he had suggested that have been incorporated. Finance Committee had no further changes. It will go to the Village Board for approval in July. ADJOURNMENT The Finance Committee meeting adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
