VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE Parks and Recreation Committee December 1, 2014 The December 3, 2014 Parks and Recreation Committee meeting was called to order by Chris Zellner at 5:45 pm. PRESENT: Chris Zellner, Phil Willems, Gary Herzberg, John Pomeranke, Mark Mathwig, Brian Malich, and Dave Jost. ALSO PRESENT: Sue McDade - Community Services Director, Rick Moran – Public Works/Parks Forman, Jeff Skoug – Recreation Supervisor. MINUTES A motion by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the minutes of the October 1, 2014 Park and Recreation Committee meetings was approved. PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment NEW BUSINESS 1. Consider Purchase of “Field Closed” Signs Rick Moran and Jeff Skoug explained to the committee the purpose of the proposed signs. The explained that they will be used to protect our fields in the event of wet conditions, recently groomed diamonds and fields that have been sprayed. Sue McDade explained that funding for the signs is available in the current Parks PAYG fund. A motion by Gary Herzberg/Phil Willems to approve the purchase of “Field Closed” signs –funding to come from the Parks PAYG fund was approved. 2. Consider Update to the Village’s Snowmobile Trail Map Mike Schiffman from the Waunakee Winter Wanderer’s snowmobile club attended the meeting and described for the committee the new route proposed for the trail system. A motion by Brian Malich/Dave Jost to recommend approval of the updated snowmobile trail map was approved. CORRESPONDENCE Jeff Skoug reported that we recently received a grant from the Endres Manufacturing Foundation to purchase 30 pairs of cross country skis. These skis will be used for programming and will also be made available for rental to the general public. Park and Recreation Committee – December 3, 2014 – Page 2 ADJOURNMENT A motion by Gary Herzberg/Phil Willems to adjourn was approved.
