VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE
Parks and Recreation Committee
April 5, 2017
The April 5, 2017 Parks and Recreation Committee meeting was called to order by Gary Herzberg at 5:30
pm.
PRESENT: Gary Herzberg, Phil Willems, Susan Brown, John Pomeranke, Dave Jost, Brian Malich.
ALSO PRESENT: Samuel Jezik and Steve Jezik – 5554 Moonlight Drive, Waunakee, Harrison Webster
and 204 W Third Street. Sue McDade - Community Services Director, Jeff Skoug – Recreation
Supervisor, and Bill Frederick – Public Works/Streets Superintendent, Rick Moran – Public
Works/Streets Supervisor.
MINUTES
A motion by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the minutes of the February 1, 2017 Park
and Recreation Committee meetings was approved.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Harrison Webster - 204 W. 3rd Street, Waunakee – appeared before the committee to ask for
preliminary approval of his idea of constructing and installing bat houses in a Village park. This
project would be a part of his Eagle Scout award. The Committee recommended that Harrison
work with the DPW/Parks team to put together a plan and return for final approval at the May,
2017 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Consider Bolz Conservancy Signage Plan – Samuel Jezik, Eagle Scout
Samuel presented his plan for upgrading the planting signs in the Bolz Conservancy. He shared a budget,
a proposed layout and brought a sample sign to share with the committee.
A motion was made by Susan Brown/Phil Willems to approve the installation of 3 signs
in the Bolz Conservancy as a part of Samuel Jezik’s Eagle Scout Project. The anticipated
cost for all three signs is $980 and will be paid from the Parks PAYG account. The
motion was approved.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Consider Permit for Fitness Programming in Ripp Park by Inspire 4 Fitness LLC
A motion was made by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the Permit for Fitness
Programming in Ripp Park by Inspire 4 Fitness LLC. The motion was approved.
2. Consider Tournament Dates and Fee Waiver for Softball Tournament – April 29/30.
A motion by Dave Jost/John Pomeranke to approve the softball tournament scheduled for
April 29/30 and all of the associated fee waivers was approved.

3. Consider Fitness Programming in the Park Request – Peaceful Valley Park – Sarah Homan.
A motion made by Susan Brown / John Pomeranke to approve the Permit for Fitness
Programming in Peaceful Valley Park by Sarah Homan was approved.
4. Consider Amplified Music in the Parks Permits.
A motion by Dave Jost / Phil Willems to approve the Amplified Music in the Parks
Permits was approved.
5. Consider Request from MAYSA for the Use of Ripp Park for the September 30, 2017 Fall Festival
A motion by Susan Brown/John Pomeranke to approve the request by MAYSA for the
use of Ripp Park for the September 30, 2017 Fall Festival was approved. Regular
resident shelter fees will apply and a $700 refundable damage deposit will be collected.
6. Consider Request from Dog Face Dog Training for the Use of Ripp Park
A motion by Phi Willems / Susan Brown to approve the use of Ripp Park by Dog Face
Dog Training for classes in May of 2017 was approved.
7. Consider Parks PAYG Fund Project Updates
The Village staff team presented a series of progress reports and budget updates for the projects proposed
for the Parks PAYG Fund.
A motion by Phil Willems / John Pomeranke to approve the updated Parks PAYG Project
List as proposed by staff was approved.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion by Brian Malich / John Pomeranke to adjourn was approved. (6:30 p.m.)
