VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE PLAN COMMISSION MINUTES A regular meeting of the Waunakee Plan Commission was held Monday August 25, 2014, at the Waunakee Village Hall, 500 W. Main Street, Waunakee, WI. CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. ROLL CALL Members Present: John Laubmeier, Steve Kraus, Gary Herzberg, Pat McGowan, and Brad Zeman. Members Absent: Mark McGuire, and Bill Pellino Also Present: Kevin Even, Tracy Meinholz, Mike King, Richard Schmitz, Henry and Dawn Whyte, Lynette Kippley, and Sil Maly. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion Herzberg, second Kraus, to approve the minutes from the July 29, 2014 meeting. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT None NEW BUSINESS DISCUSSSION/ACTION PUBLIC HEARING & DISCUSSION / ACTION ON A REQUEST BY HENRY WHYTE, FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR TWO PRINCIPAL STRUCTURES ON ONE LOT, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONVERTING A GARAGE INTO A RENTAL UNIT AT 209 W. MAIN STREET Mr. Whyte gave a brief presentation of the proposed development. Mr. Laubmeier opened the public hearing at 7:32 p.m. There were concerns from neighboring property owners that this sets a precedent for others to do the same. They felt that this is an undesirable use for garages in the Village. Public hearing closed at 8:12 p.m. Page 1 of 2 Commission members asked Mr. Whyte to work with his neighbors to try to alleviate some of their concerns. Staff directed to work on criteria/standards for this and all future requests for this type of development. No action taken at this time.
