VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE A regular meeting of the Public Works Committee was held Tuesday, June 25, 2019, 6:00 p.m., at Waunakee Village Hall 500 West Main Street, Waunakee, WI CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Willems, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: Phil Willems, Gary Herzberg, Erin Moran, Dennis Hampton, Joe Olson, Brian Wallace Absent: Nila Frye Also present: Kevin Even, Bill Frederick, Jim Madden, Tracy Meinholz, Ben Jahnke, Sam Kaufmann, Ed Bacsik, Robert McPherson, Dean Kaminski, Ann Lewandowski APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion Moran, second Wallace, to approve the October 29, 2018 minutes. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT: None NEW BUSINESS DISCUSSION/ACTION Discussion/Action on Waunakee School District Request for Pedestrian Safety Flags Dean Kaminski presented the school district proposal for pedestrian flags at 3 intersections near Prairie Elementary School. Chief Plendl does not support removing crossing guards and replacing them with flags. Members discussed options. Motion Gary, second Joe, to approve trial flags at Verleen Avenue and Pinehurst Drive on a trial basis and revisit in the fall. Police Department is to observe and report back. Motion carried. Discussion of Hellenbrand Road Construction and Impacts to Existing Residences Ed Bacsik of 6300 Hellenbrand Road, presented his concerns with the widening of the roadway and the proximity to his residence. The Village has not received the construction plans for this project yet, therefore has no way of knowing how much closer Public Works Committee Page 1 of Minutes 2 the roadway will be once upgraded. Item tabled until plans are submitted from the developer. No action taken. Herzberg left the meeting at 6:27 p.m. Discussion/Action on Woodland Drive Bump Repairs Mr. Even gave an update on this project. The repair attempt last fall did not work as well as planned. Staff is still researching possible low cost solutions. Update on 2019 Road Projects Mr. Madden gave a status report on the current projects.
