VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE 500 W. Main Street August 3, 2023, 5:30 PM Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Frye called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Present: Nila Frye, Sam Kaufmann, Erin Moran, Ron Plumer, Mark Snider, Max Ujdak Absent: Brian Wallace Also Present: Bill Frederick, Aaron Jahncke, Ryan Endres, Jeff Karls, Kent Straus, Cody Esposito, and Tracy Meinholz. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion Kaufmann, second Plumer, to approve the June 1, 2023, minutes as presented. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT: None BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Discussion/Recommendation on 2023 Simon Crestway Extension Project Award The bids for 2023 Simon Crestway Extension Project were opened on July 14, 2023. The low bidder was Parisi Construction at $450,449.75 for the road project that includes sanitary sewer, water, storm sewer and street construction. These improvements are eligible public improvements in the TID project plan and will be funded by TID 6. Also included in the packet is a Task Order from Vierbicher for staking the project. Motion Wallace, second Plumer, to recommend award to the Village Board for the 2023 Simon Crestway Extension to Parisi Construction, LLC. in the amount of $450,449.75 along with the Task Order for staking from Vierbicher. Motion carried 6-0. 1|Page 2. Discussion/Action on Proposal for Terrace Tree Program Jeff Karls presented the plans for planting bareroot trees in the terrace for residents. The bareroot plot at the public works garage has approximately 42 trees planted. Once the applicant fills out a request form and the planting site is approved, the Public Works department will install the tree. This will include a watering bag to help ensure proper watering is done by the homeowner. There is a $19.95 fee to cover the cost of the watering bag, mulch, and stakes. This program is to help replace the loss of ash trees to emerald ash borer and encourage homeowners to increase the tree canopy throughout the Village. Motion Plumer, second Frye, to recommend implementing the program this fall. Motion carried 6-0. 3. Discuss and Take Action on Strand Task Order No. 23-06 for the designing or modifications to the Sanitary Sewer, Water Main, and Storm sewer on South Street needed for the new middle school. Staff is looking to have the Strand Task Order approved so they can get started on the design and planning of South Street early to prevent delays due to timing with the school district. The plan is to bid the utility work in 2024 and finish the road work in 2025 once the school is completed. Motion to recommend Village Board approval of the Strand Task Order No. 23-06 for the South Street project. Motion carried 6-0. 4. Discussion of Upcoming Public Improvement Project Village Engineer, Aaron Jahncke, gave the members an update on the current construction and upcoming projects in 2024.
