Public Comment There was no public comment. 2 Presentation from WPPI Energy Mike Peters, the President and CEO of WPPI Energy, presented information about our membership, power supply matters, advocacy on behalf of members, the services offered by WPPI, and other current topics of interest. Agreement with Madison Gas and Electric for Use of Space at the Ripp Park Water Tower The Commission was provided a proposed agreement with Madison Gas and Electric (MG&E) for the company to lease space at the Ripp Park Water Tower. MG&E is requesting the lease in order to install equipment to be used in a metering system for their gas operations. After a discussion, a motion was made by Steve Kraus and seconded by Joe Zitzelsberger to approve the agreement provided the final plans are acceptable to our engineer. Motion carried. Billing Practices for High Strength Wastewater Usage The Commission discussed aspects of the billing process for certain customers who are billed high strength wastewater charges. Additional information will be presented for discussion at a future meeting. Purchase of Electric Fault Indicators The Commission was provided information regarding the value of having fault indicators installed in the system, which help provide a visual indication of the location of an underground fault. Several fault indicators that have been in service for an extended amount of time are now failing. In addition, we have certain critical areas that we feel would be better served by installing more indicators. As a result, staff is requesting an increase in the budget of $50,000. After a discussion, a motion was made by Steve Kraus and seconded by Kristin Runge to increase the fault indicator budget by $50,000. Motion carried. Consider Repairs to Well 1 The Commission was provided information about the failure of certain piping at Well 1 and work done thus far to repair the problem. The cost of the repair is estimated to be $30,000. After a discussion, a motion was made by John Roessler and seconded by Steve Kraus to approve the repairs for an amount not to exceed $30,000. Motion carried. Village-Wide Construction Projects No projects were discussed this month. Operations Report The Commission was provided an update on various operational matters, including the need to replace certain wire under Sixmile Creek, and the upcoming North Division Street project. General Manager’s Report The General Manager discussed the upcoming event the Utility is hosting in October to celebrate MEUW’s 95th anniversary and the kickoff of the water storage and pumping project at the August meeting. Financial Statements The June financial statements were presented. 3 A motion was made by John Roessler and seconded by Joe Zitzelsberger to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted: _____________________________ Commission Secretary 4
