VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE 500 W. Main Street November 2, 2023, 5:30 PM Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Frye called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Present: Nila Frye, Sam Kaufmann, Ron Plumer, Brian Wallace, Max Ujdak Absent: Erin Moran, Mark Snider Also Present: Bill Frederick, Ryan Endres, Jeff Karls, Timothy Burns APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion Kaufmann, second Plumer, to approve the August 3, 2023, minutes as presented. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT: None BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Discuss Request for Wildlife Crossing Signs on Kopp Road Residents from the Kopp Road neighborhood submitted a petition to install wildlife crossing signs. One of the concerns raised was where we are setting a precedent, given we have cranes and wildlife running across streets all around town. However, given the fact that Mr. Burns had several residents that agreed with his request, members took it to a vote. Motion Plumer, second Ujdak, to install two Wildlife Crossing signs on Kopp Road. Motion passed 3-2. 1|Page  2. Discussion/Recommendation on the Five-Year Public Works Improvements Plan The Committee approved a new five-year plan, with staff moving the South Street project up to next year. This was done so that the utilities that currently lay under Heritage school can be moved in order to make way for the new Middle school to be built in 2024/2025. Motion made by Brian Wallace and seconded Nila Frye. Motion carried 5-0. 3. Discuss Upcoming Public Informational Open Houses for the Prospect Road Project on December 7th and South Street on December 14th. Staff informed the Committee that there would be an open house on December 7th, for next year's road project on Prospect Road, with a Public Works Committee meeting to follow to discuss the Prospect Road plan and either accept or deny. There will also be an open house for South Street on December 14. No action necessary. ADJOURN Motion Wallace, second Ujdak, to adjourn the meeting at 5:51 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
