VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE WAUNAKEE TOURISM COMMISSION 500 West Main Street February 12, 2018 - 9:00 AM Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Adam Bentley called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m. ROLL CALL Present: Ellen Schaaf, Brian Gardner, Ashley Olson Absent: Steve Krauss, Tess Komar Also Present: Todd Schmidt (Village Administrator), Adam Bentley (Assistant Village Administrator), Kristen Wensing (GMCVB), and Diane Morgenthaler (GMCVB) MINUTES: Approve minutes for March 13, 2017 Motion by Brian Gardner, second by Ashley Olsen to approve the March 13, 2017 meeting minutes. Motion Passed. For: 3- Ellen Schaaf, Brian Gardner, Ashley Olson Against: 0. Absent: 2 PRESENTATION 1. Presentation from Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau Kristen Wensing and Diane Morgenthaler presented to the Tourism Commission on the GMCVB and the goals of the group for 2018. REPORTS 1. Report from the Chamber of Commerce Chamber of Commerce Director Ellen Schaaf provided an overview of the Chamber’s activities from 2017. 2. Report from the Creative Intern In the absence of the intern, Todd Schmidt provided an update to the Creative Economy Initiative occurring in Waunakee. NEW BUSINESS 1. Tourism Commission Budget Review 2017-18 Adam reported on the budget for 2017, total revenue, expenditures, and the 2018 budget. Commission Chair Commission Discussion 2. Chair Gardner discussed the number of meetings held through the year and indicated the lack of need to meet with regularity. However, when projects or issues arise, the group could be called to assist with projects or issues. Potential issues include: 1. Tourism Community Assessment 2. Creative Economy Initiative 3. Farmers Market Location Concept .The Commission discussed having another Tourism Commission meeting in May 2018.
