September 27, 2021
The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Waunakee Area Fire District was called to order by Chainnan Jim Pulvermacher. Roll call
showed in attendance: Jim Pulve rmacher, Terry Enge, Gary Endres, Nila Frye, Bill Ranum, Chief Dave Kopp, Asst. Chief Gary
Hansen, and Captain/Inspector Brian Adler.
Compliance with Open Meeting Laws: Chairperson asked ifwe were compliant with Open Meeting Laws. We were.
Meeting Minutes: A motion was made by Nila Frye and a second was made by Gary Endres to approve the corrected August 2021
Meeting Minutes. Motion Carried.
Bills: A motion was made by Terry Enge and a second was made by Bill Ranum to approve the August 202 l bills as presented.
Motion carried.
Old Business:
A. 2022 Budget - Chief Kopp presented a draft of the 2022 Budget. The 2022 budget shows an increase of 4.9% above the 2021
budget. The FD Officers gave a detailed explanation of where the increases were. A motion was made by Gary Endres to
approve the 2022 budget and a second was made by Nila Frye. Motion carried.
B. Fire Prevention Week Video - Chief Kopp shared that members of the department created a Fire Safety & Prevention video
that will be shared with K-4lh grade students in the Waunakee schools. Due to the pandemic, frrefighters are unable to teach
fire safety & prevention in the schools, so the video was created to be shared during Fire Prevention Week. The FD will still
distribute fire prevention materials to the schools and ask that the teachers hand the materials out.
C. Engine 2 Update - Members of the truck committee will be making a trip to Pierce MFG on Tuesday, October 19th to view
the new truck. The truck will be almost complete by the time of the visit. The FD expects delivery in late October or early
November.
New Business:
A. SAP Program - Chief Kopp informed the board that the fire department's SAP Program need to be terminated. We learned
that due to the firefighters hourly pay rate, members no longer qualify for the program. The board agreed that the funds that
were in the budget for the SAP program will remain in the budget and will be used for other firefighter incentive programs,
that haven't been decided upon yet. All firefighters that were enrolled in the program will receive their funds. A motion was
made by Chairperson Pulvermacher to direct the Village of Waunakee to terminate the program and a second was made by
Nila Frye. Motion carried.
B. Additional Full Time Staff - Chief Kopp asked the board to consider options for one additional full time district employee
to be added in the middle of2022 or the beginning of 2023. Chairperson Pulvermacher made a motion directing the
department to start researching what the position and title of the employee would be and a second was made by Bill Ranum.
Motion carried
Other Business: None
Fire Inspector's Report: Capt /Inspector Adler shared the August 2021 run report.
Next Meeting: October 25, 2021 @ 6:30pm, at the Waunakee Fire Station.
