VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE WAUNAKEE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (WEDC) 500 W. MAIN STREET October 10, 2011 - 6:00 PM MINUTES CALL TO ORDER-John Laubmeier called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. PRESENT: John Laubmeier, Phil Willems, Sue Springman, Kevin Phelps, Tim Schell, Geoff Vine, Al Dassow, David Dean, Tom Bruenig. ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: Roberta Baumann, Greg Jackson, Dan Shauik, Ed (Tormach), Todd Schmidt and Ashley Greiber. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion Willems, second Phelps, to approve the minutes from the August 8, 2011 meeting. PRESENTATIONS 1. Local Business Presentation: Tormach LLC OLD BUSINESS 1. DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON THE RAEMISH ROAD BUSINESS PARK ENTRANCE SIGN CONSTRUCTION. Motion Springman, second Schell, to recommend that the Village Board approve the bid from Speedpro for the sign and approve the bid from TMH Masonry for the masonry/stone work for the business park sign for a total not to exceed $24,187. Tim Schell left at 6:44 PM. NEW BUSINESS 1. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEBSITE PRESENTATION No action. 2. DISCUSS & TAKE ACTION ON PROPOSED 2012 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BUDGET. Motion Vine, second Dean to approve the proposed 2012 Economic Development budget. 3. DISCUSS & TAKE ACTION ON WCME PROPOSAL FOR ADMINISTRATION OF CREATIVE ECONOMY INITIATIVE. Motion Willems, second Bruenig to recommend that the Village Board approve the proposal from the Wisconsin Center for Music Education to provide administrative support for the Waunakee Creative Economy Initiative at a cost not to exceed $10,000. The commission would also like: • Periodic reports • Presentation in a year of what was accomplished and where we are going. o What did you do? o What would you like to do in the future? 4. DISCUSS & TAKE ACTION ON POSSIBLE DEVELOPER INCENTIVE FOR ST. JOHN PROPERTIES, WAUNAKEE BUSINESS PARK. Removed from agenda. 5. DISCUSS & TAKE ACTION ON POTENTIAL DEVELOPER INCENTIVE FOR TROWBRIDGE GROUP, ARBORETUM OFFICE PARK. Commission recommended that this agenda item come back next month with the possibility of creating a new committee. Motion Dassow, second Dean, to move into closed session at 7:32 p.m. Motion passed by a roll call vote: Laubmeier-Aye, Willems-Aye, Springman-Aye, Phelps-Aye, Schell-Absent, Vine-Aye, Dassow-Aye, Dean-Aye, Bruenig- Aye. The EDC may reconvene in open session. 6. Discuss & Take Action on Potential Redevelopment or Reuse of 106/108 South Street *The EDC may convene in closed session as authorized by Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(e) for the purpose of deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session. The EDC may reconvene in open session. TASK FORCE UPDATES 1. Centeral Business District Update 2.
