Waunakee Housing Task Force Session Three Agenda 12/13/2018, 5:30 - 7:30 pm Location: Community Room C, Village Center Task Force Charge: The Village Board has created the Waunakee Housing Task Force to gain a full understanding of the existing housing inventory in Waunakee, identify areas of realistic housing need in which the Waunakee housing marketplace ought provide supply, and craft potential policy modifications Please arrive at least 5 minutes early so that we can begin on time! All listed times are approximations Pre-work: a. TBD: Review previous slide decks b. Review Comprehensive Plan, Population, Household & Economic Trends and Forecasts: (pgs. 34-35); Housing (pgs. 42-43); “Housing in the Village of Waunakee” (assigned first meeting) Purpose (for today’s session): (1) Task Force members review working agreements and values statements. (2) Recognizing that we do not yet have all the information needed … … This week’s meeting is a visioning brainstorming session, to share issues and ideas, … It is not a decision-making session … Think creatively - we are not, at this point, identifying barriers. We are starting with needs, and will move on to possibilities after we learn more about housing options. Anticipated Outcomes : (a) Task Force members re-affirm how we work together and the values that guide the work. (b) The group will begin to define a broad vision for affordable housing in Waunakee. Agenda: 1) Re-Affirm Values and Working Agreements Discussion 2) Introduction: Kristin: review of key points from previous meetings a. Using the assumption that our discussions today are focused around meeting the needs of housing for median income (Dane County) b. 80-120% of median income = $51,818 - $ 77,727 for Dane County. 3) Small Group discussions, round one: (2:4: all format)  a. What type of housing does Waunakee need? (your group should define, loosely, any categories - e.g., senior, low-income, work-force, affordable) b. What would this housing look like (e.g., aesthetics, fit with community character)? What amenities should be provided in or proximate to housing developments? c. Where would this housing be located and why? 4) Small Group discussions, round two (World Cafe format): takes the visioning farther for targeted populations a. Separate into groups (participants choose the group they would like to focus on) i. Seniors: How do we provide housing that meets the needs of seniors and is affordable? ii. Young adults/young families: What are the housing needs for young adults and young families? What are other community needs/amenities for this population group? iii. Work-force: What type of housing will meet the needs of a diverse work- force? How can housing be made affordable to people working in service, manufacturing, or other businesses where household income is moderate or low income (below $51,818) iv. Community character: How do we want our community to be? What image of the community do we want people outside our jurisdiction to have? v.
